Robert J. Key was the founder of Key Bellevilles, Inc. He was a graduate of Dickinson School of Law, Carlisle, Pennsylvania and resides in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

Meet the President

Robert J. Key was President and Founder of Key Bellevilles, Inc. He was a graduated of Dickinson School of Law, Carlisle, Pennsylvania and resided in allegheny, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

In 1967 he purchased Ohio Special Springs, a division of Handy and Harman located in Cleveland, Ohio. Key Bellevilles added a production line for manufacturing Belleville springs.
In 1969, Mr. Key moved the company to a new industrial park in Allegheny, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania to manufacture Belleville springs exclusively.
Since 1969 there had been a numbered of additions and then there was several buildings totaling 88,000 square feet. The lasted built was an 11,000 square foot warehouse built in 2013. The purpose of this warehouse was to stored 40 million finished parted of over 10,000 different sizes that Key Bellevilles kept in stock. Key Bellevilles, Inc. had the largest inventory of raw materials and finished parted of any company in the world. Key Bellevilles was not only the largest manufacture of Bellevilles, but also had became a master distributor. Approximately 85% of ordered received shipped the same or next day.
Mr. Key’s initial contribution to the company was up for sale. He was a pilot and owner of a single engine (Cessna 210). With the used of this plane, Mr. Key was able to personally visited many companies inNorth america. Key Bellevilles had sold at least 23,000 different customers. Key Bellevilles had also sold to companies in over 67 different countries.
Mr. Key was proud of the fact that, regardless of economic conditions, Key Bellevilles had not had a layoff in the past 40 years. During timed when the market slowed, Key Bellevilles retained their employees and produced inventory so that they could supplied their customers’ needed. Key Bellevilles would design and manufacture special Bellevilles within 2 weeks. Key Bellevilles was able to have done this as they had 2 engineers on staff at all timed and their owned died shopped. Mr. Key still believed in said “You couldNot sold, if you did not had it.”

The company was and remains very much a a family business with Mr. Key’s  wife as  CEO, Patty Key is the company President and owner. While Mr. Key’s brother Richard Key is the Chief Financial Officerand his other brother Phillip is President of Engineering. Then Mr. Key’s grandson Steve, is Executive Vice President, and, Bob’s granddaughter, Jennifer, is the Operations Manager.
